![]() As promised, here is a preview of a loom piece in progress. I am visualizing this on the flap of a clutch - either crocheted with a unique yarn or felted... Any ideas? I received word last night that my glass storage unit for the studio is completed and it looks wonderful! Just need a few odds and ends (like a fire extinguisher, a lamp, etc.) and I will have everything needed to put the studio together. We are trying to coordinate schedules to make an appointment for all the installations. This is all very exciting for me. I haven't been behind the torch in a few weeks and I'm anxious to be able to create again!
Hooray! The bead loom arrived today! I have a small project started on my smaller loom already, but as soon as that is finished I will be chomping at the bit to try it out. I'm thinking beaded evening purse? Yum!
I plan to start posting photos here of works in progress, and possibly some tutorials. Lots more coming soon! I received a nice shipment of supplies yesterday including some Swarovski crystals. I had a couple of projects going and realized I didn't have everything I needed. So watch for some new jewelry pieces coming soon!
I pulled out the bead loom yesterday and warped it up. I forgot how unruly it is to warp this little metal loom. After the experience, I immediately ordered a newer wooden loom that I should be much happier with!
Look for some loom beaded work soon! Boy has our nation had a rough week. Prayers to the families and victims of the explosion in West Texas.
On a lighter note, still working on some amigurumi for charity. All dogs and cats will go to Planned Pethood to be sold to benefit their program. I am appalled and saddened by the news of the terrorist act in Boston. And yes, I mean terrorist. No matter whether it is an American or a foreigner, terrorism is terrorism. I will be praying that the person(s) responsible will be captured and prosecuted to th
I got word yesterday that the ventilation system is finished and ready to be installed in my Lampwork Studio. That means we are one giant step closer to being able to offer unique one of a kind glass lampworked beads for purchase.. It also means I can offer new jewelry designs. I am excited beyond words.
I'll let you all know when the workshop is completed. I was attempting a new Amigurumi pattern last night in front of the television. After having to take it apart and re-try several times I got out my stitch markers. Still, I had to re-try a few more times and then I got out a pencil to write down my rows. I can no longer use "I lost count" as an excuse.
I will have the pattern memorized before finishing one crocheted dog. I am making these dogs (and some cats too) to donate to Planned Pethood of Ohio. The proceeds will help feed and provide veterinary care for an animal in need. I attended a fabric auction yesterday. The members of the local chapter of the American Sewing Guild brought the fabric and other items that they no longer wanted and placed them on tables to be auctioned. The items consisted of fabric, craft supplies, a sewing machine, a serger machine, magazines, books, etc.
Some of the fabric was beautiful. One of the members is an art quilter and was getting rid of some of her fabrics. There were large pieces (several yards) of some fabrics from India and Japan - beautiful jacquards and Indian Sari fabrics. I managed to get 4 1/2 yards of fuchia sari fabric with beautiful embroidered goldfish. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet but I couldn't resist. Almost forgot to mention that all proceeds went towards a project for charity. |
