Hello clients! All shows were cancelled this year due to the challenge of social distancing. I am currently revamping my catalog and will have a new shopping experience for you around the first of the year (2021).

We are all hoping that we have learned to be a little kinder during this time. While I am sad that I didn't get to show you my new items face to face, there will be some new content that I hope will allow us to connect more.

Thanks for your patience!

Happy New Year everyone!

My studio is open for business. I've finally got everything in order and my creativity is back on track.

I'll post a photo of the shop soon. And there are lots of new products that will be loaded into the catalog.

I also have plans to revamp the website so watch for all the changes coming.

I had the opportunity to visit Austin, Texas for a few weeks where the motto is "Keep Austin Weird." It is a great place for artists and hippies.
I was able to experience many art forms, including glass and artist jewelry in Austin and also Houston - The Bayou City Art Festival - and Galveston.

I was also able to visit the Glass Monkey in South Austin. They are a studio specializing in Pyrex. They were very hospitable and gave me a tour of the shop while students were working on some projects. Great people there.

Some of the other artists I saw were:

Karen Eyara Naylor - I purchased two hand blown glasses from her.
Eric Mort Art Glass
Melissa Schmidt Contemporary Glass Jewelry
Bomdiggidy - A shop on Galveston
Lindsay Designs

Barbara Swift Glass Bead Jewelry
Fat Cat Studio
You Got Mojo Jewelry

Skipping Lilies
Julia Groos Halo Designs
Lisa Gastelum Jewelry

Hilary Hachey - Metalsmith
Marjorie S. Rawson Jewelry
Sara Jane Hassler Jewelry

I have moved to Westland, Michigan. My workshop is in the process of being put back together so I am unable to take any custom orders at this time. I'll update here when I'm back online. I'm excited to have my shop in a heated garage which will help with production.

Frankenmuth, Michigan

Twice yearly I get to visit Frankenmuth, Michigan with a friend. We spend one day shopping at Birch Run Outlets, stay the night, and spend another day shopping and eating in Frankenmuth.

Zhender's gives a free family style chicken dinner during your birthday month. That's something we really enjoy.

An then we visit Bead Haven.

Bead Haven is a wonderful bead shop that carries everything. So much eye candy! There are metal elements, clasps, fire polished beads in all sizes, colors, shapes...there are seed beads in all sizes and colors, Swarovski crystal, gemstones, beading fibers, tools, books, and so much more that I can't even name. Then there's the big bead bowl. After I have picked out all the yummy stuff I want, we sit down at the big bead bowl and sift through to see what we can find. This time I was looking for tear drops, cubes, hearts, and larger unusual shapes for pendants.

I finally treated myself to some rivolis that I plan to bezel with bead woven seed beads.

If you are ever in the area you simply must stop at Bead Haven. I always spend way too much money there, but how could I resist?!

Another favorite in Frankenmuth is Rapunzel's. She offers beautiful yarns of many types including Alpaca, Mohair, Cashmere, and of course Wool. There is so much to look at in this store! There are beautiful gifts of jewelry, knitting needles, crochet hooks - did I mention yarn? She is right next door from Zhender's so while you are waiting for your table you can shop the beautiful pieces in her shop.

Refashion

During this time of year it can be too cold for me to work in the glass shop. This is the time when I work on beadweaving, needle felting, crochet, etc. I follow Pinterest closely and couldn't help but notice the new trend of refashioning clothes. This is a thrifty concept which has been going on for years and has finally gone viral. So I am jumping on the bandwagon. Let me show you how I got started.
I refashioned a very plain turquoise sweater by crocheting circles and fastened them to the collar with a large pearl. I also crocheted around the edge of each sleeve using a simple single crochet stitch. This treatment made the edges "lettuce" a bit, which is very feminine.
I refashioned a plain off white sweater by embroidering lazy daisies in a variety of peaches/oranges (ombre) in a swooping pattern from the left shoulder across the front. I also added peach glass tila beads around the collar.
To start, I added needle felted elbow patches in a red and off white heart. I then added red and white heart buttons around the v-neck collar. This long sleeved red sweater still needed something, so I crocheted off white and red small hearts (about 1 inch each) and added them to the bottom as a border.

St. Clements' Show

This was my display at the St. Clements' Show on Saturday, December 7th, 2013.

We were supposed to be at the Start High School Show but it was cancelled at the last minute and St. Clements happened to have one table left.

The show had many different types of vendors and the people were almost non-stop. But they were shopping for something different because my only sales were 2 pair of shrink-plastic earrings. If I do this show again next year I will take only soft goods. This time I took only jewelry and that was a mistake. Wrong kind of show. Live and learn!

Carol Prymicz shared a table with me. She brought her really cute wreaths. She had many questions about what kind of supplies she used and most everyone said they had never seen this style before! Way to go Carol! You brought a new idea to market!

Carol sold several wreaths at this show. And most importantly, we had a good time and a nice visit.

Grand Day of Tournaments was a nice show with over 200 guests attending. I will do this show again but I will tailor my inventory to be more SCA specific.

The event did not leave very much time for setup or tear down outside of show times. I need to streamline the process.

Learned a lot and hope next year is as fun!

My next show is on December 7th at Start High School in Toledo, Ohio. This show benefits the After-Prom Committee and runs from 9am-4pm. Historically, this show sees about 500 guests. I will be sharing space with Carol Prymicz who will be showing her lovely wreaths.

Grand Day of Tournaments

My show is the day after tomorrow. The SCA Event titled Grand Day of Tournaments is sure to be bunches of fun. I have been gearing up my inventory just for this event.

If you've ever been curious about Living History (we aren't a re-enactment group but it is similar) you will enjoy this event. The populace will be dressed in period appropriate garb (if one is a 12th century fighter he will dress as such, etc.) and there will be fighting and fencing, as well as a real court!

Lunch tavern will be available for a very nominal fee ($5) and includes a drink, roll and desert - the main dish is stew, several varieties will be available from vegetarian to venison.

The event opens at 9am and will end at 6pm. Come on by and see us!

Cremains beads are popular lately. I made some for myself and realized that this could be a very valuable service I could offer my clients.

Glass & Ash Memorial Jewelry can be made of both human and animal cremains and can be incorporated into any jewelry style.

I currently have three samples available and have a few more on my workbench. As I finish them I will post more samples.

Contact me to discus design and pricing.
